Director of Preschool

Reports to: Preschool Committee and Pastor

Responsible to: CiboloValley Baptist Church (CVBC)

Purpose: Responsible for leading CiboloValley Baptist Church’s preschool ministry for preschoolers and their families in a manner which is consistent with SBC theologically, educationally and developmentally appropriate and compliant with the laws and regulations of federal, state and local government.

Qualifications:
The Director should be a:

Person actively involved in a local church.

Person with commitment to Christian preschool education.

Graduate of an accredited college or university with a major in early childhood education, child development or other closely related field.

Person who possesses such emotional maturity and professional experience that they can be an effective supervisor of the preschool staff and administrator of the preschool.

Person who has excellent communication and relationship skills.

Person who has experience in early childhood education in a preschool setting.

Advisoryand Consultation Relationships: Pastor and Preschool Committee.

Collaborative Relationships: Ministers and support staffof the church, parents, and Leadership Team

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan a program of education and care suited to the needs of children based on age and developmental status.

By the July begin registration for the next school year following Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City ISD schedule.

Work with personnel to hire, supervise and evaluate the administrative staff of the preschool.

Recruit, select, orient, supervise and evaluate the teaching staff and support staff.

Ensure that the CVBC Preschool ministry meets the requirements of the Texas Department of Social Services, local laws and ordinances, conforming to all applicable health, safety and licensing regulations specifically:
               Review lesson plans monthly/weekly to ensure adherence to regulations.
               Oversee the orientation and training of staff in accordance with State guidelines according to the age and developmental status of the children.
                Notify preschool staff of continuing training/education opportunities and maintain attendance records of staff attending any training.
                  Ensure that all employees are CPR and First Aid certified.
                  Supervise the ordering, receipt and distribution of all foods in the preschool.
                  Monitor sanitation procedures to ensure adherence with State regulations.
                   Ensure that the preschool is kept clean, attractive and safe.
                    Ensure that fire drills are being held in accordance with State Regulations and that the necessary documentation is being recorded and maintained.
                     Prepare documentation and schedule inspections for annual license renewal.
                     Maintain the records on the operation of the preschool ministry, the staff and the children enrolled which are required for license compliance.
                      Ensure that monthly reports to the Preschool Committee and Church Council are submitted in a timely manner.
                       Oversee playground safety, performing monthly checks and documenting any issues and corrective action.
                       Review all written communication to parents prior to distribution.
                       Approve all expenditures prior to disbursement.
Operate the CVBC Preschool Ministry in a fiscally responsible manner.This includes the following:
                       Developing and implementing strategies to achieve maximum enrollment and to meet the ministry goal of serving community family needs.
                         Preparing and monitoring the Annual Budget of CVBC Preschool Ministry.
                        Developing long-range financial forecasts (two to three year projections).
                        Supervising efficient purchasing practices.
                         Reporting financial trends and issues to Church Council and Preschool Committee.
                         Prepare, revise and maintain up-to-date records of all policies and handbooks which pertain to the operation of, employment in, and enrollment in the CVBC Preschool Ministry.
                        Obtain licensing and recertification of the CVBC Preschool Ministry without restrictions or non-compliance issues. Immediate correction of any restrictions or non-compliance issues is required.
                         Develop training goals for all staff and monitor their progress. Document goals in each staff member’s personnel files.
                         Maintain a high level of professionalism and ensure that the staff complies with the standards in the handbook. This includes handling matters involving children, parents and staff confidentially.

EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that an age and developmentally appropriate curriculum of instruction and training is offered in the CVBC Preschool Ministry. Oversee curriculum coordination for the purpose of continuity.

Maintain an awareness that the Preschool is part of the church’s mission and ministry.

Actively promote opportunities to participate in events and ministries of CVBC.

Keep the church informed of ways it can support the Preschool’s activities.

Positively and professionally represent CVBC to preschool parents and in the community.

Inform parents regularly about the activities of the Preschool through monthly newsletters, letters, etc.

Review and revise the Parent Handbook annually. Review and update the Preschool’s website monthly.

Make available to parents of enrolled children resources to address their children’s developmental needs and their concerns about parenting.

Ensure that the CVBC Preschool Ministry staff receives training which enhances their skills and improves their performance as appropriate.

Oversee orientation sessions for parents and staff.

Maintain contact with area directors.

Keep fully informed about issues which affect preschoolers, their parents and the operation of a preschool education program through reading, attendance of meetings, seminars, conventions and professional associations.

Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Paid Bi-Weekly $16 - $18 per hour

PRESCHOOL TEACHER 

 Reports to: Preschool Director

 Qualifications:
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Must have at least two years of verifiable experience working in a regulated childcare center or preschool.
· Must possess knowledge of early childhood education and development.
· Must be CPR & First Aid certified.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks related to the job.

 Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate competency, good judgement, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.
2. Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
3. Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children and families.
4. Provide clear and consistent expectations for children’s behavior. Follow the discipline and guidance policies set forth by CVBC Preschool and childcare licensing minimum standards.
5. Plan and implement daily lesson plans and developmentally appropriate activities for children in accordance with our program’s curriculum.
6. Conduct assessments and assist the Director with Parent-Teacher conferences.
7. Keep anecdotal notes and work sampling on each child.
8. Provide and foster a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children.
9. Supervise children at all times and know which children you are responsible for.
10. Interact with children in a positive manner.
11. Communicate daily and respectfully with all families and children.
12. Complete all classroom paperwork including food program forms and attendance reports.
13. Maintain a clean, attractive, and organized classroom.
14. Attend all required staff meetings, field trips, and preschool related functions.
15. Work as a team with other preschool staff to create a comfortable, cohesive work environment.
16. Uphold and follow all CVBC Preschool policies and procedures.
17. Know and comply with all state licensing minimum standards for childcare centers.
18. Obtain 24 clock hours of training annually as required by childcare licensing minimum standards.
19. Adhere to CVBC Preschool’s Child Protection Policy. Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in care. Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS.
20. Positively and professionally represent CVBC to preschool parents and the community.
21. Assist in other capacities determined necessary by the Director.
Part Time :  Monday through Friday (29 to 34 Hours)
 Paid Bi-Weekly  $13-$14 per hour

HOURLY NURSERY WORKER

Principle Function: The nursery worker is to supervise the care and wellbeing of nursery age children left in their care. The hourly nursery worker is responsible to the church under the supervision of the Nursery Director.
Qualifications:
Must have a personal relationship to Jesus Christ
Character and reputation of a loving Christian caregiver
Previous experience is desired
Must love children
Congenial in temperament
Dependable
Be a good role model for young children
Neat and well groomed
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibilities:
Be available for these specific times — Sunday School, Morning Worship, Discipleship Training; Evening worship, Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting, Choir Rehearsals & Night Visitation.

Availability to work during other scheduled activities of the church, as need arises (VBS, Revivals, Bible Study Groups, WMU, etc.).

Any problems or questions should be referred to the Nursery Director.

Workers should be in the nursery 15 minutes before time for the activity to begin. If no children are present, the nursery worker is guaranteed one (1) hour of work.

Workers may leave as soon as the last child is picked up and the room is in order.

If unable to work for any reason, worker should notify the Nursery Director as soon as possible.

If additional supplies are needed, notify the Nursery Director.

Will take the certification in neonatal and infant CPR.

Teach age appropriate curriculum at this level.
